What are errors and how do they differ from mistakes? Are they indicative of positive learning taking place and/or evidence of carelessness in our learners? And why does the distinction matter?
This session begins by outlining what we know about the role of error in language learning generally and then takes an evidence-based approach to the handling of error in our learners’ oral output. Be prepared to have some of your teacher beliefs about what, how and when to correct challenged and to leave the session with a set of principled techniques for addressing spoken errors for the benefit of our Medical English learners.
